I have just returned from an amazing evening presentation by Chris Krimitsos the founder of The Wealth Building Annex in Tampa and a leading expert in how to train business men to use Internet Marketing without becoming Internet Marketers full time.

It was a private session for just a limited number of people and I have come back with the feeling that something has changed in my whole perspective of how the Web will play a key role in the future evolution of business. First I will quote a statement that was emphasized during the event: “70% of business comes from referral”, which means it comes from word of mouth by your existing or previous customers.
Social media makes it easier for the word of mouth to spread, but the real connection happens between real people who have been involved in real business. Gone is the time (or soon gone) where you just use some technology trick or technique to gather always new potential customers and then leaving them behind to find some more (high churn based on ample availability of leads with little competition).
Today in Italy, where I come from, they are celebrating the end of World War II and the liberation from the nazi invasion by the allied forces and the Italian liberation army. It is a date that was deeply ingrained in the memory of our parents or grand parents and that has a lot of relevance with the situation we are today in. WW II was made possible by the propaganda of a few governments that made it possible for hatred to be borne between nations and population with the end hidden purpose of serving destructive goals.

Propaganda was a key factor in setting a whole continent into war, every medium was being used to the purpose of “selling people” on the need to go to war: cinema, newspapers, radio and billboards. There was also a lot of canvassing in the street and it doesn’t surprise us that the dictators that eventually gained control of Italy and Germany were the ones that had better mastered the art of propaganda and that had gained the full control of the media.

After that dramatic period in history, the world at large realized that having control of communication channels meant power and the biggest of all powers for that matter as through the media and propaganda one can actually influence the decisions of a government, can favor the approval or rejection of a bill and can steer the outcome of a judicial proceeding.
Today the Internet and the social media tool associated with it give us, for the first time in history, the tools for ensuring freedom of communication and for overcoming and censorship and slanted propaganda. That’s why it makes a lot of sense to know them well and to master them not only for business purposes, which is quite possible, but also for bringing change and sanity to the areas where we can operate directly. Use it! Our freedom depend on it.

We will bring the knowledge within the reach of people because only by having the responsibility of teaching others one can truly learn.
When back in Italy, I was told that the best way for me to understand an English text was to translate it for somebody else. And it proved to be a very true statement. A very keen insight into the nature of man and the peculiar care we put in our work when we help others, if we truly want to help them. This has always pushed me to learn and to explain new things. And the prize has been to have this wonderful crew.

The first time I heard this very true statement I was participating to an Internet Marketing seminar in Florence, very close to the beautiful center of the town. It was funny to be in the middle of a town that hasn’t changed much since the Renaissance and be lectured by young lads who had it taped as far as blogging, search engine positioning, list building, forum management and so on. The content was impressive and maybe a bit too dense.
At the time I was still running in my capacity of well known computer journalist working for a very well known publishing company. Yet I was already looking at things with the entrepreneurial perspective of wanting to build something new and I was already cultivating the plan of moving to the United States with my family to dedicate myself full time to my passion: real estate.
Yet that statement struck me on top of everything else and it was clearly applicable to all aspects of marketing not only Internet promotion. In essence, we can all have grand ideas about what people might like and would buy from us, but eventually it’s what they really want that determines the outcome. When I arrived here in the USA seven months ago I had to adjust myself to many things that were quite different from Europe, but I soon recognized that this concept still held valid. And I realized that first and foremost people want emotion, friendship, recognition and help. You never get enough of them.
So I decided that the best way for me to get introduced into a new culture was to contribute to it and I readily found the best expression of this in Chris Krimitsos, the founder of The Wealth Building Annex in Tampa and an entrepreneur and TV producer with a very long an successful curriculum. Chris, who is going to have a very deep influence in the way my life will develop in the future, lives by the deep felt belief that only by helping others and sharing love one can be truly successful.
So when he invited me to help in building TWBAONLINE I have eagerly accepted because I want to be part of a creation that will for sure change many people lives and that will bring Internet Marketing within the reach of every entrepreneur who cares to use it, in an affordable and very friendly way.
