Beginning with a mistake and ending with a plan

Storytelling 1 Comment »

Today I woke up and realized there had been a mistake in the update of my blog. A test article had been published while it shouldn’t and I felt a bit odd starting the new year with an error, but then again in my last year in the US I have learned to search a positive side in everything, and I have also learned that mistakes can happen and sometime they open up a totally new and better path.

So I have reviewed my work of the last two days and I noticed that I have made several other mistakes, all as the result of some business interaction I have had in the last 48 hours. None of these will have serious consequences, but there is a bell ringing and indicating there something in my world and that I am not properly recognizing.

Maria Bella_ridimensionare

My beautiful wife who always protects and assists me, keeping me away from major mistakes.

In my experience, when mistakes start to add up it always indicates that I am dealing with somebody, one specific person, that I should not be dealing with, and indeed in the last week I have been contacted by all kind of people presenting all kind of offers, most of them involving potentially lot of money.

And when lots of money gets on the line you can get lured into a relationship that you should stay away from. This is the time when I found it takes much more discernment on my side. Trouble often presents itself “beautifully dressed”.

I always trust my judgment but when things get fuzzy I like to get an external point of view to make sure I am not missing any important detail in the picture, and there is only one person who has the acumen and the vision to spot things when I am not fully able to see: my wife Maria.

In her previous businesses experiences, she has been managing tens of thousand of people in different continents and she has seen it all. Becoming a top networking marketing leader she has been able to live an accelerated life that gives her the incredible knack of spotting troublesome people from the first instant. She has always been able to predict with incredible accuracy the behavior of people she had just met and she never sweetened the pill in any fashion.

So now it is time for me to listen carefully to what she has to say and to cherish her advice, locating and dropping inappropriate connections with people who shouldn’t belong in my environment and capitalizing on the greatest richness I could ever have: Maria and my wonderful family. I have began the new year kissing her and this is the best start ever. She is a richness that nobody will ever be able to take away from me and that no other “richness” will be able to surpass. I wish you find the same richness for your life, this year. Happy new 2010.

Love without reason

Storytelling 5 Comments »

We all participate in events and meetings and sometime it happens to be seating next to an exceptional person that simply stands out from the crowd and maybe nobody has yet noticed it. It happened to me in the last week end during a bootcamp by Dan Stojadinovic in Tampa. In was there as a speaker, but I sat in the audience because I wanted to follow the other presentations like a normal attendee. Next to me sat an Indian gentleman who introduced himself as Santhosh Mathews.

He was there in order to better capitalize on Internet marketing techniques because he had a site that he wanted to develop. He also had friends and partners in India who were considering investing into real estate in the US. He wanted to become a bridge in the US for these people and this sounded funny because this is exactly what I do for European investors.

Two calls that will change the course of events

Sometimes your life can be affected greatly by something that happens very far away. With modern technology you can be virtually connected with all the world and your potential sphere of influence grows accordingly. Also I noticed that in life you tend to elect some key places as your safe points, the areas where you can return to and get support or simply friendship every time you need it.

They don’t need to be close to where you live and actually they can be quite far away. Maybe you don’t even realize that you have elected these special places as your “sanctuary”, namely the spot where you can return and rest, while feeling protected and “at home”. Maybe you haven’t been there for quite a while and you simply forgot about them or they are so far away an “unreachable” that you feel as almost they don’t exist anymore.

They could be the house where you were born and raised or they could be any other location. For me, after I left Italy and my original town and moved to the US about 15 months ago, there was no special place like that. I felt I had abandoned my home town forever and my life was going to bring me in new places and new adventures. The visa procedures also restrict my motions inside and outside of the US and so I concentrated in make myself more comfortable in the place where I am right now.

Sailing into the future of coaching

Networking 2 Comments »

Yesterday was my second Columbus day in America. It creates always a peculiar feeling being Italian and participating in a holiday where such a great number of people celebrate another Italian for having discovered such a great continent. I also have the intention of bringing something new and important in this country and therefore I have decided to set October the 12th as a benchmark date for my activities in the future.

Yesterday it was indeed a very important one because I have brought to the next stage a relationship that I have been cultivating since February of this year and that has required lot of patience and nurturing to foster and to bring to its current strength, but that has tremendous potential for the future. They say that the bamboo tree takes 2, 3, 4 years to fully develop its roots: it only grows a few inches, but then it can shoot up 47 inches in just one day, and they develop to their full height (up to 250 feet) in just 3 months.

It all began with an event about Internet Marketing and how to build a joint venture here in Tampa. I had been in the US for approximately six months and I had already met several types of gurus and investors, but no real match for me.

Me and Mark on stage at his latest event in Atlanta.

I had a clear idea on how my business was going to develop, but nobody I had found was patient enough to wait for it to unfold fully and to find common activities to share in the meantime. They all wanted the bamboo now, without waiting for it to grow. Everybody was kind of looking for business opportunities right here, for the low hanging fruit. No commitment, no depth of relationships.

The event was organized by Dan Stojadinovic another European from Serbia who has built a very strong presence in Internet Marketing and real estate investing. Dan always invites several speakers to his events and makes sure that they deliver solid content. He is also a very strong promoter of the idea of joint venture so I was sure that I was going to meet somebody special at this particular event, and I did.
