Every time you are ready to make a major change in your life and tackle something that you consider well beyond your current capabilities you need to take a first step that will enable you to move forward. I tell you this out of experience because I have been taking huge leaps and done major changes in my life during the last 13 months. You often hear coaches and people telling “you need to get out of your comfort zone”. This is definitely one part of the action, but I would rather more see it as a second step, a result of you actually throwing yourself into the fighting ground, right amongst the lions which are ready to chew you to pieces.
Me and Mark Jackson during the event.
The actual first step, that goes somewhat un-noticed and that is the make break point was pointed out to me by my wife Maria few days ago, before I was starting for my current business trip. She said: “you need to kill the victim that is in you”. This is a powerful statement because it gets to the very core of you and I know that my wife would have never told it to me with the purpose of making me wrong. She knew exactly what I needed and the fact that she pointed it out to me made me immediately realize that yes I was playing victim in some area of my life which was the area where I was growing and improving the least.

It also made me understand that only by having a full belief in my ability to win, for me, for my family and for my business associates, I would have been able to gather around me the needed support to pull it off. This put me right out of the comfort zone and right in a new “comfort zone” where I was sure I would have made it no matter what because I was willing to be a winner whatever the circumstances and the obstacles I would have found on the way. And you also decide you want to enjoy yourself while doing it, so this blows away many unpleasant feelings and you become effective rather than just uncomfortable.
I am sharing this with you because I believe it is applicable to many situations and to many people. Thank to this help from Maria, I have been able to perform very well during this event I have been speaking to. The presentation that Mark Jackson, my host, made before my speech is amazing and shows me how much progress I have been doing since I arrived in the US little more than one year ago. But it shows mainly that I am in a new condition, ready for tackling more challenges. The world around me seems to agree: I have just got my investor visa that will allow me to operate fully for the next 2 years, I have got a friend and a partner that is supporting me in Italy and I have the most close knit family you could ever dream of, and this after being through the most challenging year in my whole life. In todays business and life you will never be able to be in a comfort zone very long, but when you kill the victim that is in you, you will feel pretty comfortable no matter the circumstances.

I agree with getting out of the comfort zone. I have made a big push over the last year to get out of my comfort zone and the result is that I feel comfortable no matter waht the situation. I find that I love finding new ways to step out of the comfort zone. It can actually be motivating.
thanks for the post
Go isn’t a complete sentence. It is not even a clause on it’s own. We take it as such, because everyone says it.
Very powerful statement! I use it now when i get that feeling. Thanks for sharing that story!
