What business are you in? Wrong answer!

Internet Marketing Add comments

Today I have been at the first day of the Internet marketing and Joint Venture bootcamp organized by Dan Stojadinovic in Tampa (www.hypefreebootcamp.com). On Sunday I will have my own presentation on Twitter, but I wanted to be amongst the attendees from the very first day because it is a fantastic opportunity to assess my Internet Marketing strategies and to meet people I will be able to do business with.

This is the second year in a row that I participate to the event and last year I created a strategic relationship with Mark Jackson, a leading investor and nation wide coach from Atlanta. By the way, Mark is leaving for Italy in a few weeks to meet my Italian partner Daniele Bogiatto and get introduced to a number of investors there.

So I can’t wait to see what will result from this edition of the JV bootcamp. For one thing today I followed a very interesting presentation by Gerald Rogers, an Orlando based real estate investor and Internet Marketer who has remembered to all of us that no matter what business we are in we are all in he same business, and that is marketing. Without proper marketing nothing moves and 60% of our time, as entrepreneurs should be devoted to marketing, leaving only 20% to the actual production and 20% to administration and operation.

I don’t know if these figure s are applicable for everyone, but definitely marketing has to rank high In our priority list and it is the single activity that we cannot fully outsource. Let’s take my real estate business: I can definitely outsource or delegate all the administration and most of operation, I must outsource all the rehabbing, but when it comes to marketing, I am the only one who can conceive the campaigns, study them and systematize them.

I can have people help me in the production activities related to marketing, like distributing fliers or signs, publishing posts on the Web, or other repetitive task, but I must be at the center of these activities.

Today during the lunch break, a guy was talking about the great help he is getting from the Philippines at a very little cost. He has outsourced everything including paying his bill and was telling that you can outsource even your blog: take somebody else’s content and republish it or have someone writing it for you.

Well, I don’t agree with that. You can maybe outsource everything except your voice. Some people use ghost writers and I believe they are perfect for preparing manuals or other training materials that you don’t have the time to write up fully yourself. But when it comes to branding and making yourself known for who you are, nobody can do it for you.

Outsource the menial tasks and be you own voice. Take some time to share with others and it will pay back many times over.
