Few months ago I have taken a course on motorcycle riding here in Florida and now I enjoy riding in the sun. The main thing I got out from that experience is that you always go where your are eyes are focused. If you keep you sight on an obstacle because you fear to hit it or you want to avoid it, then you can be sure you will go right to it. The bike will always go where you look not where you “thinks” it should go.

The same is for your business or personal projects: when you focus your attention on the barriers and the obstacles you will hit them for sure and will probably stay there. When you keep your sight on the destination you will reach it, no matter how many turns or detours you will have to take.
The problem is that, in real life, it could take a while before you actually reach you target and therefore you can become discouraged by the apparent little progress that you are making: there are so many more things you would like to do and so little time to do them, apparently.
I have recently listened my business associate Daniele describe the progress we have been doing in our operations in the US during the last 6 months and they are quite remarkable. By listening to him I have realized that I was not patting myself on the shoulder strong enough for what I have really accomplished and for the platform that I have put in place and that will allow to accomplish much more.
When you are constantly involved in the action of your business, with many people flying around you and many moving parts, you tend to miss the perspective of what is really going on and how much you are actually accomplishing. It is a fact that other people often give more value to what we do than we ourselves are willing to give.
I have just closed on a property that I have rehabbed and re-marketed with the help of over 50 people. The new owners where very happy to have a fine house for a very affordable price and they couldn’t wait to get in the door. They are a new American family that will have a nice place to live thanks to some Italian money and entrepreneurial spirit and to the work of other North Americans like them.
I definitely feel that not only I have successfully completed the startup of a business that one year ago was only in my mind, but I have also contributed in improving the life of some real people.

Roberto,
Congrats on getting your project off the ground and completed. You should be proud of your accomplishments thus far in the states. Nothing like the power of new and ambitious immigrants to keep this great country going in the right direction. Furthermore, it is going to take entrepreneurial folks like yourself to bring this housing crisis back on track so consider your hard work coupled with your vision a great asset and wonderful contribution to our great nation which you and your lovely family are now part of the fabric which makes it all work. Have a Merry Christmas and keep up the great work on your blog, it is really a very thoughtful and informative platform for the real estate community.
Roberto,
Thank you for the important reminder that we DO accomplish a lot, all the while wondering why we can’t do better!
I am glad to hear your project is done, but I am even more glad to hear the WHY of what you’ve done : the new American family; the team you had; the pride of a job well-done. More of us are focused on such things, and that it the TRUE American Dream, is it not?
Roberto,
I know that you and Daniele are both doing a great job. It’s nice to hear about the effect that your hard work has had on other people!
I wish you both continued success in 2010.
Stephanie
