Selecting the right partners is the most important activity in any type of business. You cannot work alone and every type of activity requires networking. There are many approaches possible and some people use gut feeling or they look at the merit of the potential deal, that is they let the numbers talk. But both of these approaches can be dicey. If you have the wrong person you will get trouble whatever the deal.

So the best way to find about a man is to look at his products and at the people around him. Look at his family, look at his working associates and at what he is producing. He best way to see if a teacher is good is to look at his pupils. The best way to see if a tree is good is to look at its fruits. Look at their actions and see how well they along with others. If the complain about somebody else they are likely to do the same with you.
What we are is what we reflect. You find this concept in many books yet not many people actually apply it. You should not chose basing only on business opportunities but rather chose the people first.
To do this you need to be a bit slower, you need to take the time to come to know the person. The time spent in building the relationship will pay off in terms of results or mistakes avoided.
