Since I began my blog on August 22 of last year many things have happened and a whole cycle has completed itself, therefore I have decided in this post to look back in perspective to the previous 10 posts that better describe the evolution of my story and that can give you some help in tackling the new year.
This will only scratch the surface of the 145 posts I have produced and the 627 comments I have received to date. The best indicator for me is the overpowering amount of comments that indicates that I am engaging with my readers much more than when I was writing as a professional journalist during the heydays of paper publishing. Social media and blogging have really changed the face of the editorial world.

The ten key topics I have covered in the last five months:
1. Getting it right or getting it going: you can’t begin a major life project by planning everything in advance, in all its detail, because life is never as organized as we would like it to be and we all live surrounded by other people who have emotions, desires, pains and ambitions. Commitment and dedication is more important than mere education.
2. Kill the victim that is in you: every time you are ready to make a major change in your life and tackle something that you consider well beyond your current capabilities you need to take a first step that will enable you to move forward.
3. How do you chose the right people to do business with: selecting the right partners is the most important activity in any type of business. There are many approaches possible but the best way to find about a man is to look at his products and at the people around him.
4. The inverted personal branding pyramid: It is fairly normal, at the beginning of a career, to test many avenues and several different customers until you find the main vein which is going to become your special field. For quite a while the new born entrepreneur or professional looks pretty much like anybody else: she is willing to perform work for anybody asking for it and she doesn’t really bother giving herself a precise positioning, a unique image.
5. Drive your business safely, avoid target fixation: this is the most deadly mistake you can do in business by getting stuck in thinking to failure or to the horrible consequences that could ensue from your actions. If you fixate on the barriers, you will get straight into them.
6. Re-set your main goal and keep it there: take the time to review your business periodically, it will be the best time you will have ever spent and it will also save you lots of money in materials or activities you will never benefit from.
7. The champion frog: don’t listen to the people who have the habit of being negative about things, they will rob you of your best hopes. Remember the power contained in the words you read or hear. So try always to be positive and always be deaf to anybody telling you that you can’t make your dreams come true.
8. Legacy is more important than currency: build a brand based on a strong competence and passion and bring them to the Web sharing and capitalizing your ability to attract and retain people.
9. Is social media killing you?: Being out of the game of today Web 2.0 can be quite deadly but you can also die in the effort of doing it the wrong way and wasting a lot of time and energy in the process.
10. The first mile is always the longest: when you first begin you sometimes feel that you are never going to make it since the first project or action you perform seems to be taking forever and to produce very little or no gain, or maybe even a loss.
While building this collection I have reviewed the key factors that I want to use in 2010 and hope this small collection will help you doing the same.
